Fast Diets to Lose Pounds and Inches
If you have ten to twenty pounds you want to shed, the following fast diets have been successful for some. Keep in mind that these diets are meant for short term use, and you should follow up with a long term diet goal for continued health.
The Scarsdale Medical Diet
This is one of the fast diets that have been around since the 1970′s. Many people have achieved quick weight loss following this low fat, low calorie diet. It consists of a structured meal plan that must be followed to the letter for the first fourteen days. People claim to have lost twenty pounds following this diet.
The Hollywood Diet
Becoming popular among fast diets, the Hollywood diet is a bit extreme and claims you can lose weight in twenty-four to forty-eight hours. While on this diet you only drink a juice concoction that really works as a laxative and will detoxify the body. If you have up to eight pounds to lose for that special occasion, this diet may work. It is not recommended for long term use.
The Cabbage Soup Diet
One of the quickest fast diets, as it is followed for seven days, the cabbage soup diet is more than the title. You are allowed fruits and vegetables and some starch in the form of potato on one day. People have lost weight successfully on this diet. On one day you eat up to six bananas. This is supposed to curb your craving for sweets.
The Grapefruit Diet
Although it has not been scientifically proven, the grapefruit is said to have a certain ingredient that causes the body to burn off fat quickly. You eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice with every meal. If you enjoy grapefruit, give it a whirl. You are supposed to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast. This is a moderate protein diet that is low in carbohydrates. Some claim it works for quick weight loss.
If you plan to try any fast diets, keep in mind that they are a quick fix. If you want to keep the weight off permanently the only way to achieve long term success is by devising a sensible eating plan consisting of healthy foods and exercise.
Avoid fatty fried foods, eat more fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of pure water every day. Losing weight does not need to be hard. Stay away from fast food restaurants and pre-cooked over processed junk. Green leafy vegetables do not have to be boring if you use the right seasonings.
Fish is fat free and is a great addition to fast diets. Bake or poach with some lemon pepper and you have a filling meal, along with a garden salad and small potato. Eat small portions and eat up to six times per day to keep your metabolism going. And try not to skip breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day!
